The Amazon Effect: Retail Bankruptcies Surge 110% In First Half Of The Year.

This is destroying hometowns, social interactions and overall education and discussion on issues that face our country. Loss of the hometown retail stores is taking away the fabric on which this country was built. I have used Amazon myself but basically because there are not LOCAL businesses to obtains the goods I want on occasion. They continue to grow and the dumbification (yes my own word from my dictionary) will grow proportionately as time goes on. Downtown shops helped fuel community, respect, making of friends, and a sense of ownership on your town. That is being eroded at a fast pace and what we will be beholden to Walmart and Amazon for goods, and their prices will increase when they have shuttered most American retail businesses!
